Partnership between STEP and Whiskey House

Distilling Innovation with a Hybrid Network

See how STEP designed and built a resilient hybrid network connecting IT, OT, automation, and critical operations across Whiskey House of Kentucky.

One Network Built for a Connected Operation

Whiskey House of Kentucky operates a highly automated bourbon production environment where technology is directly connected to operations. Supporting that environment required more than a traditional enterprise network. It required a resilient architecture capable of connecting IT and OT systems, supporting continuous production, and scaling across a growing campus.

STEP designed and built the hybrid network foundation behind the operation, eliminating critical single points of failure while bringing together enterprise networking, operational technology, security, monitoring, and managed services within one scalable environment.

The result is a modern network built for the performance Whiskey House requires today and the advanced technologies it plans to deploy next.

Connecting Production, Technology, and What Comes Next

For Whiskey House, the network is an operational platform. It supports the connected systems behind highly automated production while providing the resiliency and visibility needed to keep operations moving.

STEP built redundancy into the architecture through NIC teaming and SMLT configurations and integrated approximately 175 devices supporting security, monitoring, and access control across the environment.

That hybrid network foundation also creates a path for continued innovation, from advanced analytics and AI-enabled operations to Whiskey House’s planned private 5G deployment across its 176-acre campus.

A Hybrid Network Built to Scale

Whiskey House now has a resilient network foundation designed to support high-volume automated production, connected IT and OT environments, and continued expansion.

With production expected to double, more than 30 additional rickhouses underway, and private 5G planned across the campus, the network can evolve alongside the operation and support the next generation of connected manufacturing technologies.
